The BEACHES are OPEN!
On Tuesday this week Alabama Governor, Key Ivey, announced that Alabama is moving from "Stay at Home" order to "Safer at Home". The most exciting part about this new order is that the Alabama beaches open today at 5pm!! There are guidelines that have to be observed, however. No gatherings of 10 persons or more and people must maintain 6' of separation. Non-essential retail locations can reopen at 50% capacity with social distancing. Sadly, there is not yet a guideline on opening restaurants and entertainment venues. Restaurants, of course, can offer take out! To read up on all of the guidelines around "Safer at Home" click here.
Similarly, in Florida - Perdido Key and Pensacola Beach - public and private beaches will open on Friday. Those beaches will be open 30 minutes before sunrise and close 30 minutes after sunset. The guidelines set out there are the same, no groups over 10 and social distancing observed.
It's exciting to have a piece of normalcy return. We anticipate families to start traveling here this weekend. I've spoken with a few management companies and they say bookings are picking up with this news I know many of you are looking forward to getting back on the beach, I certainly can't wait to hit the beach this weekend with my family!
On another note, I took the post photo in early April, during this beach closure. While it was nice to look at bare beaches my hope is that we do not have to again.
Stay safe and well!
Heather
